Operations and Maintenance

This section focuses on services that are needed for projects that are nearing completion or have already been built. We offer a variety of services for projects that reach this stage such as Certificates, As-Built packages, As-Built Production estimates, final marketing pictures and system punch-listing. Our list of services is always growing, so please reach out to us if you need a service that isn’t listed here as we may still be able to help.

FIT Program - Independent Engineer’s Certificate

During the Feed-in-Tariff program in Ontario, Canada, an Independent Engineer’s Certificate was required to close out the project. At present, the program has come to a close, but we do hope that the Ontario government revitalizes the program in the near future.

  1. Review of Facility confirming it has been completed in all material respects

  2. Review of Connection Point for the Facility

  3. Completion of Prescribed Form – Independent Engineer’s Certificate

  4. Certificate Sealed under Ontario P.Eng Authority

FIT Program - Independent Engineer’s Screening and Setback Certificate

During the Feed-in-Tariff program in Ontario, Canada, an Independent Engineer’s Screen and Setback Certificate was required to close out the project. At present the program has come to a close, but we do hope that the Ontario government revitalizes the program in the near future.

  1. As-built Site Plan (using Drone Survey, and Property boundary pegs)

  2. Physical Measurement of Equipment Setback from Property Line

  3. Completion of Prescribed Form – Independent Engineer’s Screening & Setbacks

  4. Certificate Sealed under Ontario P.Eng Authority

As-Built Drawing Packages

We offer comprehensive as-built services for a variety of engineering disciplines. Once a project has been completed, an inspection can be completed (in certain cases virtually); it is possible to produce either a completely new set of drawings or update and existing drawing set to reflect as built drawing conditions.

  1. As-built Electrical Systems (Both AC and DC)

  2. As-Built Control Systems

  3. As-Built Mechanical Systems

As-Built Energy Production Estimates

With the project complete or nearing completion, it is possible to create highly detailed energy estimates that incorporate all As-Built characteristics. This includes accurate DC and AC losses, accurate equipment power consumption and equipment positioning.

  1. PVSyst Input Summary

  2. PVSyst Standard Operating Procedure (As-Built Design Level)

  3. PVSyst Energy Generation Report(s)

  4. Hourly (8760), Daily, and Monthly Data Exports

Note: Input Summaries and Standard Operating Procedures are almost always required as they provide all assumptions that are required at this stage of design. Assumptions clarify economic modelling factors that would otherwise be embedded in report information for quick use in Client economic models.

Performance Testing and Evaluation

On completion of your project, you may be contractually required to satisfy performance testing requirements. This typically requires between +/-2-3% of estimated production based on the As-Built PVSyst design. Our testing is a capacity-based testing methodology of ASTM E2848-13 and uses a multiple linear regression modelling.

  1. Review of IV-Curve Testing Documentation

  2. Review of As-Built Instrumentation and Monitoring equipment

  3. Short-Term Capacity Test

  4. Longer-Term Capacity Test

  5. Performance Testing Report

PowerTrack Project Implementation

When it comes to project monitoring, there are are large number of vendors to choose from. Over the last 10-years, the field has narrowed for medium size solar sites with Draker, Locus, AlsoEnergy all being absorbed into PowerTrack. Although PowerTrack is a powerful platform, it can be daunting for new clients, and this is something that we can help with.

  1. Setup of Yield Estimates

  2. Setup of Performance Monitoring

  3. Setup of Alarms and Automated Reporting

Drone Surveys, Videos and Images

Depending on your project location, we might be able to complete Drone Surveying. We have both regular imaging drones and Thermal Imaging drones, perfect for either marketing or detecting common issues in solar plants.

  1. Photographic Survey of Site

  2. Marketing Video of Site

  3. Thermal Scanning of Site

Note: In recent years, governments around the world have stepped up requirements for drone operators. In Canada, operation of a Drone of any kind, whether recreationally or for business reasons requires licensing. At present we are no longer able to fly drones in Canada as a Pilots License is required. We do intend to obtain certification when time permits us to undertake the required study.

System Review - Punch-listing

Whether you’ve just completed construction and need the system to be reviewed against the EPC contract and local standards, or you have an existing system that is under performing and needs review, then this product may be fore you.

  1. Review of Site Documentation

  2. Review of Contract Requirements

  3. Review of System against local legislation

  4. System Report & Punchlist
