Development Services

Are you interesting in creating a Utility Grade Solar Plant but are not sure where to begin? If this is the case, then perhaps our development services are for you. Whether you need to produce a feasibility study for investment approval, need to respond to an RFP, or need an existing design cleaned up with scope gaps closed, we can help you. Although our development designs range from the very detailed to back of the napkin, all development studies are just that, preliminary work geared towards identifying the feasibility of a potential project. This work can cover a range of disciplines including Surveying, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical & Communications at the development level. When moving into detailed design, we have chosen to limit our scope to the services offered in the Detailed Design Services section of this website.

Development - Desktop Survey & Site Extents

When a project is under development, a site legal survey might not be available. In these cases, it is possible to utilize online government websites to generate a Desktop Survey for preliminary project planning. With the Desktop Survey complete, addition planning can be completed, delineating known site constrains such as Wildlife Setbacks, Wetland Setbacks, Property Line Setbacks, and existing infrastructure setbacks. This package generates plans which will include sufficient information for preliminary planning purposes and further development work.

  1. Desktop Site Survey Using Online Property Databases

  2. Desktop Site Survey with High Resolution Satellite Imagery

  3. Site Extents Drawing with Property Lines and Mandated Setback Regions

Development - Site Civil Engineering

We are not Civil engineers, but after 10 years of solar project development, we are able to approximate basic civil requirements for development purposes. Typical road locations, road details and other generic information generated in this package can form the basis for further development with Civil Engineers as your project progresses.

  1. Civil Site Plan

  2. Typical Road Cross Section Details

  3. Typical Road Culvert Details

  4. Typical Site Fencing Details

  5. Civil Site Plan Take-offs (Needed for RFP Stage)

Development - Site Mechanical Engineering

Client’s are encourage to utilize mechanical layout services provided by Racking System vendors, but often, these services are not sufficiently progressed to do detailed development work with. If you need a more detailed site Racking layout that incorporates survey data, constraints, and civil features, then this package might be able to help.

  1. Mechanical Site Plan

  2. Site Mechanical Systems Typical Details

  3. Site Mechanical System Datasheet

  4. Site Mechanical System Take-offs (Needed for RFP Stage)

Development - Site Electrical Engineering

With Site Mechanical and Civil plans now complete, it is possible to create a preliminary electrical system that can connect the site to the grid. Although we do not specialize in detailed AC Electrical and SCADA Systems design, at the development stage we can recommend a preliminary system that will work with the DC Electrical System Design.

  1. Electrical Site Plan

  2. AC Systems Single Line Diagram

  3. DC Systems Single Line Diagram

  4. Electrical Systems Take-offs (Needed for RFP Stage)

  5. Equipment Datasheets

Development - Energy Production Estimates

The economics of a solar project are of critical importance, this means that the capital expenditure of a project must be weighed carefully against the projected revenue of a project. This is where Energy Production Estimates become necessary. In order to project the potential revenue to be generate from a solar farm, the energy production must be estimated with a high degree of accuracy, this package addresses that need.

  1. PVSyst Input Summary

  2. PVSyst Standard Operating Proceedure (Development Level)

  3. PVSyst Energy Generation Report(s)

Note: Input Summaries and Standard Operating Proceedures are almost always required as they provide all assumptions that are required at this stage of design. Assumptions clarify economic modelling factors that would otherwise be embedded in report information for quick use in Client economic models.

Development - Basic Visual Impact Designs

Often customers need a visual representation of the Solar Farm for stake holder engagement. This basic package will suit most marketing needs for overall system representation.

  1. Basic Site 3D Modelling

  2. Site 3D Render Overview Design

  3. Site 3D Render Details

  4. 3D Rendered Images

Development - Detailed Visual Impact Designs

In some situations advanced 3D modelling of the Solar Site will be needed. This type of render typically focuses on the visual impact from the perspective of each stake holder that the client would like to engage. Typical examples are the visual impact from an adjacent land owner who would like to see what the array would look like from the first and second floor of their home.

  1. Advanced Site 3D Modelling

  2. Site 3D Render Overview Design

  3. Site 3D Render Details (From Each stake-holder perspective)

  4. 3D Rendered Images
